I don't know what it is, but I've started this weird obsession with salt and pepper shakers. The Earl ones from Mode bring out the inner science geek in me.

While we're on the subject of science tools used in the home, I love this idea from Apartment Therapy. You organize all your different spices in test tubes. I think it adds a neat little punch of color in the kitchen.
